Wedding Inspiration & Ideas

Real weddings, ideas, tips, and hints for planning your Melbourne or Gippsland wedding ceremony.

Stephanie & Luke | Harrigan's Calypso Bay

The internet, which, among its many gifts, has given us a platform to thirst after the Chris Hemworths and Miranda Kerrs of the world, as well as slide into each other's DMs - it really is the best wingwoman or wingman. And, believe it or not, beyond right swipes and Bumble back-and-forths, Snapchat was actually the place where Stephanie and Luke first connected.

Although they knew of each from highschool, it wasn't until a few years after completing year 12 they struck up a conversation online, which turned into their first meet up.

Since that first meet up, they have been together ever since. Two houses, two children and a whole lot of adventures. I was lucky enough to marry them on a beautiful sunny day, during these crazy Covid times at Harrigan’s Calypso Bay. Stephanie and Luke were the most relaxed bride and groom I had ever met - the day was full of laughs , champagne and celebrations carried on into the night. Taylah & Joel | Surprise Wedding, Logan Village

When Taylah and Joel asked me to be their celebrant for their surprise wedding I jumped at the chance! I had always wanted to help a couple create one of the biggest surprises for family and friends and what better way to do that then at Taylah and Joel’s engagement party out on Joel’s parents property in Logan Village.

I arrived inconspicuously as one Taylah and Joel’s guests and had an elaborate story made up if anyone tried to connect the dots of how I knew the happy couple. Being heavily pregnant, I zoned in on the only other pregnant person at the party and started my tall tale. (this was Steph - who I ended up marrying to her long time partner Luke the following year)

Suddenly I was a school teacher, who lived at the back of Logan Village and knew Taylah and Joel through their parents. I have to admit, I was damn convincing. And when it rolled around to later in the evening and Taylah and Joel made their way down the aisle in their wedding attire, the look on all of the guests faces was just as good as the ceremony itself.

Tayla & Keith | Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast

Rain, hail or cyclone, nothing could stop newlyweds Tayla and Keith having a Gold Coast beach wedding. Leading up to the wedding, we spoke about a Plan B for the ceremony following warnings of Cyclone Oma; 70km gale force winds, torrential rain and flooding. But, no matter the news update - Tayla and Keith remained positive, they were adamant we wouldn't need plan B.

For a shore loving couple like Tayla and Keith, there's nothing more romantic than the sand between your toes, sounds of the waves crashing on the shore, and the sultry, salt tinged air as you say your vows.
So, as a true blue beach bum myself I made it my mission to make it happen. Even if I had to pull out the gumboots and don a Bridget Jones wind-blown hair do.

The big day rolled around and luckily the larger storm did not. By the afternoon, the sun broke through the clouds and a smiling Talya and Keith said 'I do' to each other among their closest friends. Check out the photos from the day below:
